Man arrested after police seize 21 loaded guns, cocaine from Winnipeg home

Winnipeg police say a 24-year-old man has been charged with multiple firearm and drug offences following the search of a home in the Central Park area.

The Winnipeg Police Service says it seized 21 loaded restricted handguns during the May 7 search of the Cumberland Avenue apartment.

The police investigation began earlier this month with a report of drug trafficking at the home.

Police say they also seized, in the search, various ammunition, a silencer, 27 grams of cocaine, cash, a laptop and two cell phones.

Jawad Miakhail has been charged with 21 counts of possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition, possession for the purpose of weapons trafficking, possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, and more. He was detained.

The allegations against him have not been tested in court.
