Child in hospital following hit-and-run, man facing charges: Winnipeg police

A 29-year-old man is in custody following a hit-and-run collision that injured a school-aged child on Thursday.
WPS says the alleged incident happened around 5:30 p.m., when they received a report that a 2025 Dodge Ram had allegedly hit a child who was riding a bicycle along North Point Boulevard.
Officers responded to the scene and learned that the child had been taken to a hospital in unstable condition with serious injuries.
Through the initial stages of an investigation, police believe that the child was riding the bike on a sidewalk in front of a housing complex when they were hit by the truck as it was exiting a parking lot.
Police were later able to locate a 29-year-old who was believed to be responsible and took him into custody. He is facing charges of dangerous operation of a conveyance causing bodily harm and failing to stop at the scene of an accident.
