Manitoba provides $750,000 to crime victim support groups

The Manitoba government announced that it will provide $750,000 to support victims of serious crimes or their surviving relatives.

The list includes homicide, sexual assault, and intimate partner violence.

“November is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and our government is strengthening its support for victims of intimate partner violence and other serious crimes throughout the province,” said Matt Wiebe, Manitoba Justice Minister.

The money will be shared among 13 different victim support groups throughout the province, including $200,000 going to Candace House in Winnipeg, which provides wrap-around supports for victims and families who have lost a loved one to violent crime.

Another $90,000 will go to Heartwood Healing Centre which provides therapy to Manitobans aged 16 and older who have experienced childhood sexual abuse.
