Arrest warrant issued for man who allegedly assaulted a woman in Portage la Prairie

Manitoba RCMP have issued an arrest warrant for 39-year-old Burton “Cody” Campbell, who is wanted for allegedly assaulting a woman in Portage la Prairie.

Around 3:45 p.m. on Sept. 3, Mounties responded to a report of an assault on 11 Street NW in Portage la Prairie.

When they arrived at the scene, they were met by a woman who was suffering from injuries.

The woman then told police that Campbell, who was known to her, had broken into her home and assaulted her before fleeing.

Police note that there were children inside the home at the time of the reported assault, but they were not injured.

The woman was taken to a hospital for further treatment.

RCMP have since issued a warrant for Campbell, who is from Ebb and Flow First Nation.

He is facing charges of breaking and entering with intent, assault while chocking, suffocating or strangling, and failing to comply with conditions of a release order.

If anyone knows the whereabouts of Campbell, they are asked to call 9-1-1, the Portage la Prairie RCMP detachment at 204-857-4445, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
