Winnipeg police looking for man after 18-year-old woman stabbed on Selkirk Avenue

Winnipeg police are looking for a man who allegedly stabbed an 18-year-old along Selkirk Avenue on July 13.

WPS says around 4:30 a.m., officers responded to Selkirk Avenue and Parr Street after receiving a report of a stabbing.

When they arrived, the officers found the 18-year-old woman lying outside a convenience store, bleeding and suffering from life-threatening injuries.

She was taken to hospital in critical condition, and has since been upgraded to stable.

WPS spoke to witnesses at the scene, and learned the woman was approached by a man on a bike, who asked to borrow some money, before the man allegedly attacked her.

Following the attack, a bystander who was driving by stopped their vehicle and called 911. Other witnesses reportedly helped the woman until paramedics arrived at the scene.

According to police, witnesses have described the man as riding a BMX-style bike, wearing a black backpack and a ballcap that might have had a white NY Yankees logo on the front. He was also last seen riding his bike down Selkirk Avenue towards Main Street.
