Family of man critically injured in car crash last month in Transcona holds on to hope

The man who was critically injured in a car crash that took place in the Transcona last month has been identified as 21-year-old as Keegan Bobby Frobisher.
His family spoke to CityNews Friday about the aftermath of the crash, and Frobisher’s condition after suffering serious injuries.
Frobisher’s sister Kayla was only one street away from home when he suffered the crash near Murdoch Mackay School on May 24.
Police were called to the scene on Redonda Street near the Murdoch Mackay School around 1:42 a.m. Officers and paramedics arrived to find a 2020 BMW M340i off the roadway and on the grass on the east side of Victoria Jason Park.
Frobisher, who was the only person in the car, had been ejected from the vehicle, police say.
She said she received the call around 3 a.m. asking her to go to the hospital. At the hospital, the family said they weren’t sure Frobisher would live.
Frobisher is on life support in the surgical intensive care unit at Winnipeg’s Health Sciences Centre (HSC). He has had 10 surgeries and is awaiting more while in coma.
Kayla says her little brother, who’s spirit name is black wolf, is a kind, energetic, driven person that one can’t miss.
“Just the type of person he is, it’s like he has this gravitational pull, very magnetic, bright, positive,” Kayla said.
With the family not sure what the outcome will be, Kayla says its been a waiting game, hour by hour.
“I feel like I lost my brother that day and if he makes it through this, things are gonna be very different,” Kayla said.
“We are gonna have to push through and learn to support this new person. We don’t know what the outcome is gonna be yet. But in that moment, it feels like your world is crushed,” she added.
“Throughout all of this we’ve utilize the elders at HSC. So, we’ve been doing ceremony at his bedside, we smudge every day, we play the drum, we sing to him. We have a lot of people in the community coming in and bringing us meals and things like that and keeping us company because we refuse to leave his side.”
Kayla says the family is staying positive, and grateful for the extra time they have been given with her brother.
“So far he is beating odds, and he’s got age on his side,” Kayla says. “But he is a fighter and I don’t want to live in a world without my brother.”
