Winnipeg man charged after alleged robbery, stabbing Friday afternoon

By CityNews Staff

Winnipeg police say a man has been charged after a security guard was stabbed at a store Friday afternoon.

WPS says officers responded to a store along St. Mary’s Road near Abinojii Mikanah around 1 p.m. after receiving a report of an attempted robbery and a stabbing.

Reports indicate that a man entered the store, before allegedly taking two hats and leaving.

While leaving, he was confronted by a security guard, at which point the guard was stabbed with a knife.

Police say the security guard was wearing a protective vest, which prevented any injuries.

The man reportedly fled the scene after the attempted stabbing, and was taken into custody by police a short time later.

Since, 30-year-old Scott Evan Cornelson has been charged with robbery and weapons-related charges.
