High winds predicted for Lake Manitoba, Gimli, Victoria Beach

By News Staff

The Province’s Hydrologic Forecast Centre is warning the public that high winds are expected to develop starting tonight and lasting until Sunday morning.

They say high wind effects will be felt along the south basin of Lake Manitoba as well as shorelines near Gimli on the west side, and Victoria Beach on the east side of Lake Winnipeg.

South wind developing tonight will eventually switch to a northwest wind gusting up to 90 kilometres an hour, which could result in waves and water levels rising by five feet or more.

Property owners are being asked to take precautions.
