Man charged with murder in fatal West End fight

Winnipeg police say a man was charged with second-degree murder in the death of a 48-year-old man in the city’s West End on Sunday.

The Winnipeg Police Service says officers were called to a fight in a home on Sargent Avenue shortly before 11 a.m.

Officers arrived to find a man suffering from serious, life-threatening injuries. He was transported to hospital in critical condition, where he died.

Police say a suspect fled before police arrived. A man was arrested nearby.

The accused, 40-year-old Oluwatosin Akisanya, remains in police custody. The allegation against him has not been tested in court.
