2 dead, 1 injured on highway north of Winnipeg

Two people are dead and another was seriously injured in a single-vehicle collision on a highway north of Winnipeg on Friday.

Gimli RCMP say a 38-year-old woman and 51-year-old man were pronounced dead at the scene on Highway 68, near road 14 east, in Arborg.

The driver of the vehicle, a 34-year-old woman, was taken to hospital by STARS air ambulance with serious life-threatening injuries.

All three people are from Arborg.

Police say officers arrived on scene to find the damaged vehicle on the south side of the intersection, stopped in a field.

“The driver was trapped inside the vehicle and the two other occupants had been ejected from the vehicle,” Mounties said in a news release.

RCMP are continuing to investigate.

Arborg is about 115 kilometres north of Winnipeg.
