Winnipeg Humane Society hosting adoption event to ease capacity issues

This Friday, the Winnipeg Humane Society will host an adoption event titled "Distinguished 100 Club" to help a trio of dogs find their forever homes. Kurt Black reports.

With the price of inflation and vet bills causing more people to pause before adopting a pet, capacity issues continue to be an ongoing issue for the Winnipeg Humane Society.

An event dubbed The Distinguished 100 Club, running from 3 to 6 p.m., where visitors can meet Axel, Landon, and Roan, take photos, hear their stories, and perhaps find a new best friend.

“We are using our Distinguished 100 Club as a draw for people to come and see them, we are also hoping people come and see all the wonderful animals we have here on the floor and hopefully find them forever homes,” said Carly Peters, the director of communications and marketing with the Winnipeg Humane Society.

Like us humans, each dog has its own personality and quirks, which is why each member of the Distinguished 100 Club comes with free behaviour classes in addition to a reduced adoption fee of just $100.

“We have a free behaviour helpline if people want to call and get some tips on how to deal with anything we have a vet clinic, we have everything to support after someone adopts a dog from here,” said Peters.

For those of you looking to add to your pack, then come on down Friday afternoon, where the hardest decision you’ll have to make, is which one of these lovely pups you’ll be bringing home with you.
