WFPS member arrested by domestic violence unit

A member of the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service was arrested Tuesday for allegedly violating a protection order against him.

Christopher Goethals, 59, has been charged with disobeying an order of the court and was detained in custody.

Goethals, who was required not to be within a particular distance of a person, is accused of driving into an area that violated that order on July 15.

Winnipeg police say it happened while he was “working modified duties in full WFPS uniform and operating a fleet vehicle.”

WPS was notified and members of the domestic violence unit arrested him.

The allegation against him has not been tested in court.
