Manitoba RCMP investigating pair of assaults on Nov. 11

RCMP officers in Manitoba are investigating a pair of assaults that occurred on Nov. 11.

Mounties in Chemawawin, Manitoba — roughly 460 km north of Winnipeg — say around 12:25 a.m., a 56-year-old man was found suffering from life-threatening injuries. He was initially taken to a nursing station, before being rushed to a hospital in The Pas where he was treated.

Through the initial stages of the investigation, RCMP learned that the victim was attempting to remove unwanted guests from his home when he was attacked by a 16-year-old boy with a machete.

The teen then fled the scene, and was later located by police and taken into custody.

He was charged with aggravated assault and four counts of failing to comply with a release order.

RCMP says another assault also occurred at around 3:50 a.m. on Nov. 11.

Mounties in Pukatawagan, Manitoba — roughly 600 km north of Winnipeg — responded to a nursing station after receiving a report that two people were brought in with serious injuries.

Both victims were airlifted to Winnipeg, where their condition was later upgraded to stable.

Through the initial stages of the investigation, RCMP learned that the victims were at a home in the community when two other men broke in and immediately assaulted them with a baseball bat and dumbbell.

Mounties say the two suspects fled the scene and have yet to be located.
