Winnipeg police arrest 2nd suspect in fatal Mulvey Avenue shooting

By News Staff

Winnipeg police say both suspects wanted for second-degree murder in connection with a fatal shooting last month have now been arrested.

The Winnipeg Police Service says Jerrin Macintyre, 28, was taken into custody Monday just before midnight.

Last week, 25-year-old Randy Blake Flett was arrested and charged.

Both men were wanted in connection with the death of 46-year-old Damion Wayne Skrumeda. Police say they do not anticipate additional arrests.

On Sept. 13, WPS responded to a shooting at an apartment building on Mulvey Avenue near Hugo Street N.

Officers found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound. He died of his injuries.

Homicide investigators allege the suspects attended the apartment complex, confronted and shot the victim. They say one of the suspects knew the victim.

Two days later, investigators say a live improvised explosive device (IED) that posed a danger to public safety was found at that apartment building during the homicide investigation.

After the building was evacuated, police say the IED was “safely disrupted.”

Homicide detectives are continuing their investigation.
