Convict on the loose after escaping from Stony Mountain Institution

Police in Manitoba are looking for a convict who escaped from Stony Mountain Institution on Monday.

The Correctional Service of Canada says it immediately contacted Stonewall RCMP when it discovered Jason David Vanwyck, 41, was missing from the federal institution.

A warrant has been issued for his arrest.

CSC says it will investigate the circumstances of the escape.

Vanwyck is serving a two-year sentence for breaking and entering, theft, assault with a weapon and more.

He is described as six-feet tall, weighing 241 lbs., with green eyes and brown hair.

Anyone with information

Anyone who has information on the whereabouts of Vanwyck is asked to contact police.
