Former Manitoba minister Scott Fielding charged with sexual assault

Former Manitoba cabinet minister and Winnipeg City Councillor Scott Felding has been charged with sexual assault.
Winnipeg police said on Friday that Fielding, 53, was arrested Thursday in connection to with a sexual assault incident that happened in March 2024.
Police said Fielding and a 34-year-old woman were employed at the same firm at the time of the assault and had attended a work conference.
During one evening of the conference, police say Fielding and the survivor attended different establishments in a social setting along with other co-workers.
It’s alleged, at the end of the night, Fielding escorted the woman back to her hotel room where a sexual assault occurred.
In January 2025, the victim reported the incident to law enforcement in another jurisdiction who in turn informed the Winnipeg police.
Fielding was arrested and charged with sexual assault. He was released on a undertaking and will appear in court later.
None of these charges have been proven in court.
CityNews reached out to Fielding for comment and hasn’t heard back.
