Additional first-degree murder charges laid in death of Gerhard Reimer-Wiebe

WINNIPEG – More first-degree murder charges have been laid in connection to the June death of Gerhard Reimer-Wiebe.

Mounties announced Monday more charges were coming and confirmed Tuesday two Winnipeg women–Bobbi Hall, 26, and Chelsea O’Hanley, 24–would be facing the same charges as the two men previously charged.

Reimer-Wiebe, 27, was originally from Steinbach but was living in Winnipeg. His remains were found on Baker Street in Portage la Prairie on June 24.

Last month RCMP charged Kyle Sinkovits, 29, and Jonathan Narvey, 25, with first-degree murder, forcible confinement, and indignity to a body.

Investigators believe that the four killed Reimer-Wiebe at a home in Winnipeg–a burned-out place they called a “location of interest” during the investigation and spent days pouring over. More evidence has been taken from that house and will continue to be investigated.

After Reimer-Wiebe was dead, police say the group took the body to Portage la Prairie where it was eventually found.

“This was a horrendous, vile, and senseless crime,” said RCMP Superintendent Michael Koppang, adding Major Crimes often deals with horrific cases, but this one was particularly disturbing.

“It is my sincere hope that these first-degree murder charges against these four individuals bring some closure to Gerhard’s young family, his relatives and friends, and the community.”

Koppang says the four suspects were all identified from a convenience store security camera video in Portage la Prairie from the day detectives believe Sinkovits, Narvey, Hall, and O’Hanley disposed of Reimer-Wiebe’s body.

Hall was arrested Aug. 5 and O’Hanley was arrested Aug. 6. Both have already made their first court appearance.
