Man arrested after home and high school break-ins in Winnipeg’s Crescentwood

A 35-year-old man was arrested Saturday in connection with break-ins into several homes and a high school in Winnipeg’s Crescentwood neighbourhood.
Winnipeg police (WPS) officers responded to several 911 calls at 6:30 a.m. reporting the break-ins in the 100 block of Kingsway.
Six homes and the school were broken into after bricks and rocks were thrown through windows and glass doors, WPS said in a release. In some cases, residents were confronted and threatened by the suspect, and items were stolen from their homes. The suspect was not known the victims.
“When police arrived, they were flagged down by one of the victims, who pointed out the suspect walking down the street while still armed with a broken liquor bottle,” WPS said.
The suspect, Ralph Shane Knott, dropped the bottle and was taken into custody without incident.
No was injured. Damages are estimated to be around $25,000.
Knott faces multiple charges included breaking and entering, assault with a weapon, threatening to cause death and bodily and failing to comply with condition of release order.
He remains in police custody.
