Highspeed road racing on Disraeli Freeway escalates to police and k9 unit chase

Police arrested a 20-year-old man following a highspeed road racing on Disraeli Freeway escalates to police and k9 unit chase early Sunday morning.

Around 2 a.m., WPS officers responded to reports of several vehicles, including a corvette racing at excessive speeds along the freeway.

With police helicopter assistance, officers observed the cars splitting off into different directions after crossing the Nairn overpass at speeds up to 200 km/h.

After traffic units made attempts to stop the vehicles, a jeep stopped and was issued a ticket, but the corvette sped past them and entered a residential area, where it eventually stopped.

The driver and the passenger were tracked down and taken into custody.  One of the suspects received medical attention after being apprehended by a police service dog.

A 20-year-old man is facing multiple charges and was released on an appearance notice.
