Small plane crash lands off highway in western Manitoba

Manitoba RCMP says one person is in hospital after a small plane crashed landed east of Sandy Lake.

Mounties responded to a report around 7:10 p.m. on June 25 that a small aircraft in distress was attempting to land on a highway.

It is believed that the TBM 8 single-engine aircraft had departed earlier in the day from The Pas and was en route to Brandon when the pilot made an emergency landing on Highway 45; however, the plane came to a stop in a ditch on the north side of the road.

Four people were on board the aircraft at the time, and one was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The Transportation Safety Board (TSB) has been informed of the incident.
