Winnipeg man, 57, fatally struck by semi-truck on Highway 75

Police say a 57-year-old Winnipeg man was killed on Highway 75 south of Winnipeg on Saturday afternoon after he was struck by a semi-truck.

Morris RCMP say it happened just south of St. Jean Baptiste in the RM of Montcalm around 1 p.m.

Authorities say the victim was himself a semi-truck driver. Police did not provide details on what the man was doing outside of his vehicle at the time of the collision.

Officers arrived to find the man lying in the median ditch, and two semi-trucks stopped in the southbound lane of Highway 75. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the other semi-truck, a 33-year-old Winnipeg man, was uninjured.

Morris RCMP continue to investigate.
