Winnipeg man facing charges after being found with loaded shotgun Monday morning

Winnipeg police say a 48-year-old man is facing charges after being found with a gun Monday morning.

WPS says around 2:30 a.m. on Dec. 8, officers found a man wearing a backpack with what looked to be the barrel of a shotgun sticking out.

Police had originally been in the area of Toronto Street and Wellington Avenue for an unrelated matter when they noticed the man.

He was immediately taken into custody without incident, and the officers conducted a search of the backpack, where they found and seized a loaded sawed-off shotgun and a folding knife. Both of which were seized by police.

The 48-year-old man is facing multiple firearm and weapons-related charges.
