Winnipeg Jets flying high after Game 2 victory

Monday marked yet another memorable evening for Jets fans, as Winnipeg continued their hot start to the Stanley Cup playoffs, with Kyle Connors playing the hero once again. Kurt Black reports.

Pandemonium doesn’t even begin to describe what we witnessed Monday night, from the whiteout.

It was yet another memorable evening for Jets fans, as Winnipeg continued their hot start to the Stanley Cup playoffs, with you guessed it, Kyle Connors playing the hero once again.

With his second game-winning-goal in as many games, Connors sent Jets fans flooding onto Portage Avenue celebrating a 2-1 victory, and more importantly, a 2-0 series lead.

More than in previous years, the Jets have embraced a no-nonsense style of play, and it’s not just the big boys throwing their weight around, no greater example than Mark Scheifele crashing the net for the opening goal of the game.

“There are the fun ones, and you know the playoffs separate the men from the boys,” said Luke Schenn, Winnipeg Jets defenseman.

But while some Jets fans are likely digging their brooms out of the closet, dreaming of a sweep, Jets Head Coach Scott Arniel knows the Blues still have plenty of fight left in them.

“It’s going to be a grind, they are going to be tight games. Going into St. Louis is going to be tight again. We just need to stay in the moment, play out each shift, and hope we come,” said Arniel.

The Jets will now have a couple of days off before game 3 in St. Louis, Thursday.
