Winnipeg police say a 31-year-old man has been charged in connection to a homicide in a hotel on Ellice Avenue.
WPS says around 8:40 a.m. on Sunday, the man turned himself in to police for an unrelated arrest warrant.
Following this, during the intake process, police were given new information, which led to an investigation at a hotel along Ellice Avenue near Donald Street.
After arriving at the hotel, officers were able to find a woman who was already dead. She was later identified as 34-year-old Tara Walker from Chemawawin Cree First Nation.
As the investigation continued, the homicide unit say that Walker and the man were known to each other prior to her death. It is believed that an altercation took place in a room of the hotel, which led to Walker’s death.
Since, 31-year-old Andrew James Sinclair from Easterville, Man., has been charged with second-degree murder.
Police says the investigation is still ongoing, and if anyone has any information, contact investigators at 204-986-6508 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-8477.
