Winnipeg police say a 41-year-old man has been charged after an alleged break-in.

WPS says around 3:30 a.m. on Jan. 30, patrol officers noticed a man who was believed to be involved in a reported break-and-enter at an autobody store and a car wash, walking near McPhillips Street and Polson Avenue.

The officers attempted to take the man into custody when a short foot chase occurred. The man was however quickly apprehended.

Through an investigation, police learned that between Jan. 9 and 10, the man went to an autobody shop near Arlington Street and William Avenue and allegedly stole a 2021 Ford Transit 350, worth around $28,000.

The investigation also found that around 4 a.m. on Jan. 10, the man attended a car wash along Watson Street, and entered the building after backing the stolen vehicle into the glass front door. From there, he allegedly stolen the cash register which contained cash and gift cards.

Police have since charged 41-year-old Joseph Christopher Colosimo with four charges including break, enter & theft.
