Manitoba RCMP seek public’s help in 2021 First Nation double homicide case

By News Staff

Manitoba RCMP are once again turning to the public for help in solving a 2021 double homicide in a remote northern First Nation.

The bodies of Leona Tssessaze, 24, and Brent Denechezhe, 31, were found after a house fire was put out in Northland Denesuline First Nation on Sept. 9, 2021.

RCMP investigators determined their deaths were homicides.

Nearly two-and-a-half years later, investigators are back in the northern community as they search for answers.

“We’re bringing attention to this tragic event and renewing calls for information,” lead investigator Const. David Giroux said in a news release. “We believe there are people out there who have valuable information about these murders.”

Police are asking anyone with information to call the tip line at 431-489-8112.

“No detail is insignificant,” Giroux said. “Your contribution could be the key to finding answers for the families and community.”
