Teen bear sprays 2 Winnipeg officers in face: police

A teenager bear sprayed two Winnipeg police officers directly in the face during a well-being call in North Kildonan, according to police.

The Winnipeg Police Service says it happened Monday around 5:30 p.m.

Officers spoke to a member of the home when they arrived. They were then allegedly approached by a 15-year-old boy and bear sprayed.

The teenager was taken into custody and has since been charged with two counts of assaulting a peace officer with a weapon, and possession of a weapon.

Both officers and other residents were treated for bear spray exposure.

The teen was released on an undertaking into the care of an adult.
