Fans of Winnipeg Sea Bears got to see their favourite basketball players up close as the team took over CF Polo Park in Winnipeg this weekend.
The arena had a pop-up court, a DJ as fans got to meet the team and get autographs from the Sea Bears themselves.
“We wanted to make the team super accessible to fans outside of the arena,” says Rhéanne Marcoux, president, Winnipeg Bears.
“It’s been a great opportunity to have a free event, it’s been packed all weekend, the players are here so it’s super accessible for fans to come by and say hi.”
The Winnipeg Sea Bears say events like this are the next step in how the organization can help bring Manitoba’s identity and northern roots to life for fans.
“There has not been a break since we started,” Marcoux said. “It’s really good to see fans come by. We wouldn’t exist without the fan base and so it’s so important for us to give back and to be able to see them come out like this has been great.”

Sea Bears centre player Kyler Filewich said he enjoyed seeing fans of all ages and from all walks of life
“A lot of people who show us a lot of support,” Filewich said. “Hearing from them, hearing their experience at the games, it’s really something inspiring and something that pushes us to be even better.”
“We have the best fans in the league, such a great community, such a great support system from everyone,” Filewich added. “So it’s important for us to show love back whenever you get a chance of an opportunity like this.”
