Police investigating 47th homicide of year

Winnipeg police say they are investigating the city’s 47th homicide of the year.

Police say they received a report of shots heard in a building on Furby Street near Sargent Avenue Saturday morning around 1:45 a.m.

Officers arrived to find a man with severe injuries. He was taken to hospital in critical condition, where he was pronounced dead.

On Sunday, WPS identified the victim as 29-year-old Winnipeg man Daniel Michael George Cook.

Winnipeg set a new homicide record earlier this month. The previous high was 44.
