15 Manitoba drivers charged with impaired driving over Thanksgiving weekend

Manitoba RCMP laid several charges against drivers over the Thanksgiving holiday long weekend for impaired driving.

As a part of what they call “Operation Impact,” officers say they checked 1,502 vehicles at 24 stops throughout the province.

Fifteen drivers were charged with impaired driving, while 16 were given a roadside suspension, and 18 tickets were issued for distracted driving.

Mounties say the initiative focuses “on the enforcement of high-risk driving behaviours that frequently contribute to serious and fatal motor vehicle collisions.”

RCMP adds although Thanksgiving is a time dedicated to extra traffic enforcement, it has officers out every day looking for drivers who put others at risk.
