Winnipeg police looking for woman wanted in two homicides

Police are looking for a woman wanted in two separate homicides, from February and May.

The Winnipeg Police Services says 34-year-old Leah Carol Clifton of Winnipeg is now wanted for second-degree murder in a second homicide. She is believed to be armed and dangerous.

Clifton was already wanted by WPS in the murder of Heather Beardy in February.

Now WPS says Clifton is wanted in a death believed to have taken place on May 19 at an apartment complex on Kennedy Street near Sargent Avenue.

Police say they found the body of a woman inside the building, and began investigating the death as suspicious. The victim was identified as 25-year-old Doris Lydia Trout.

Days later, photos of two women believed to be involved in the death were released: Clifton and 27-year-old Meagan Leigh Beaulieu, also from Winnipeg.

On June 7, investigators arrested Beaulieu and charged her with second-degree murder.

Clifton is described by Winnipeg Police as five-foot-six, weighing roughly 145 lbs. She is known to change the colour of her hair.

Police add “her whereabouts remain unknown as she is actively evading police.”

If anyone has any information on the whereabouts of Clifton, they are asked to contact investigators at 204-986-6508 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786 TIPS (8477), or 911.
