Three taken to hospital after fire in Winnipeg

Three people were taken to hospital after a house fire in Winnipeg’s north end Thursday night, with one person reported to be in critical condition and two others in unstable condition.
The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) was called to a two-storey residence in the 300 block of St. Johns Avenue at approximately 10:16 p.m. on Aug. 27 after receiving reports of a fire.
When firefighters arrived, they encountered heavy smoke and flames coming from the structure.
Crews initially launched a defensive attack before transitioning to an interior attack once conditions inside the residence allowed them to do so. The fire was declared under control at 11:01 p.m.
All occupants had evacuated the home before firefighters arrived.
Paramedics assessed three people at the scene and transported them to hospital. One person was in critical condition, while the other two were described as being in unstable condition.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
