Wanted man evading arrest found hiding in encampment tent: Winnipeg police

Winnipeg police say a man who was wanted since April on three arrest warrants was found hiding in a tent within an encampment in South Point Douglas on Wednesday.

The Winnipeg Police Service says officers seized methamphetamine, fentanyl and cocaine from him during the arrest, as well as Canadian and U.S. cash.

The three warrants for his arrest were issued between April and July 2026. The 43-year-old had cut off his court-ordered electronic ankle monitor, police say.

Michael Bruce Garson was charged with possession of meth, fentanyl and cocaine; and possession of proceeds of crime under $5,000. The allegations against him have not been tested in court.
