Early morning house fire on Bannatyne sends one to hospital

A fire in a single-storey house in Winnipeg led to one occupant being taken to hospital early Sunday morning.

The fire on Bannatyne Avenue West near Notre Dame Avenue occurred around 4:45 a.m.

The cause is under investigation.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service crews found smoke coming from the building, and were able to knock down the fire in about 15 minutes.

One occupant was rescued from the building and treated on scene. They were then taken to hospital in stable condition.

No other injuries were reported.

The city’s Animal Services Agency was called to help assist a cat located at the scene.

The building suffered minor smoke and fire damage.
