Search continues for two boys missing in Nutimik Lake

RCMP are continuing the search for two boys who went missing after entering fast-moving rapids at Nutimik Lake in Whiteshell Provincial Park.

Police said officers responded Saturday afternoon to a report of a possible drowning near the Sturgeon Falls Trail.

Investigators believe the boys, aged 10 and 13, slipped into the rapids and did not resurface.

The Manitoba RCMP Underwater Recovery Team and the Hutterian Emergency Aquatic Response Team have been deployed to assist in the search.

RCMP said crews have conducted extensive searches along the shoreline and in the water but have not yet located the children.

Officers and other emergency responders remain at the scene as the search continues.
