Four charged after Manitoba man allegedly bound, assaulted and abandoned near wooded area

Four people have been charged after RCMP say a 19-year-old man was allegedly bound with electrical tape, assaulted and abandoned near a wooded area in southwestern Manitoba.
Killarney RCMP said officers were called shortly after 11:20 p.m. on July 13 following reports of an assault in the Rural Municipality of Killarney-Turtle Mountain.
Police allege the victim was preparing to leave the community in a vehicle when he was attacked by several males. Investigators say the suspects held him down, wrapped him in a blanket and bound his hands and ankles with electrical tape before assaulting him with a stick.
RCMP allege the suspects stole the man’s two cellphones and two small knives before loading him into the back of an off-road vehicle and driving him to a wooded area, where they left him. Police said three of the suspects were partially masked during the incident.
The victim was eventually able to free himself from the tape and return home, where police were contacted.
RCMP have since arrested four suspects from the Rural Municipality of Killarney-Turtle Mountain, ranging in age from 16 to 31.
Thirty-one-year-old Justin Gross, 22-year-old Gideon Walder and 26-year-old Jayden Waldner are each charged with forcible confinement, disguised with intent to commit an offence, overcoming resistance to the commission of an indictable offence and robbery.
A 16-year-old male, who cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is charged with forcible confinement, robbery with a weapon and overcoming resistance to the commission of an indictable offence.
All four accused were released on release orders following court appearances.
