Auditor general fall report takes aim at fighter jet plan

ONTARIO (NEWS 1130) – A scathing fall report has been released by Canada’s auditor general, which takes aim at the federal fighter jet plan.
The report opens fire on Justin Trudeau’s government, as it plans to spend $500 million to buy second-hand fighter jets from Australia.
The jets are being purchased until a permanent replacement is purchased and delivered by 2032.
But the auditor general is raising red flags, pointing out the air force won’t have enough pilots or technicians to fly the jets, noting the government has long been warned about the issue.
“Buying a bunch of old rusted-out Australian fighter jets will not meet the operational requirements,” said Conservative James Bezan.
“Cancel the purchase of buying used Australian fighter jets, and immediately open up the competition to replace our current fleet.”
Bezan said the jets won’t be of much use if there are not enough pilots to put them in the air.
Other problems flagged in the report include the military not providing enough support for victims of sexual misconduct in the armed forces.
The report also says the Canada Revenue Agency is applying tax laws differently across the country depending on where you live and which agent you happen to get.
