Search continues for missing 9-year-old in Red River

Winnipeg Police are on scene near the Louise Bridge, searching for a 9-year-old who may have entered the water Friday afternoon.

(WINNIPEG) – Search crews will return to the Red River near Winnipeg’s Louise Bridge today to continue looking for a nine-year-old boy who disappeared in the waterway yesterday afternoon.

A search involving a water rescue unit and a drone last night found no sign of the missing boy, identified by his family as Darius Bezecki.

“We briefly spoke with family. They’re incredibly traumatized by this,” said Const. Jay. Murray. “It’s a very tragic incident, I think on that’ sgoing to tug at the hearts of a lot of people in Winnipeg. We’re hoping for a positive outcome. It’s something we’re still hoping to acheive.”
