3kg of opium concealed in pickup truck seized near Headingley

Winnipeg police say they seized more than three kilograms of opium during a drug interdiction enforcement along the Trans-Canada Highway near Headingley on Thursday morning.
The Winnipeg Police Service say the opium seized have an estimated value at more than $200,000.
Police say officers stopped a 2024 Dodge Ram truck in the early morning hours, and the driver was detained as part of a drug investigation.
The WPS says “Indicators of interprovincial drug trafficking were observed,” and the drugs were found with the help of a detection dog.
A 22-year-old man from West St. Paul was arrested and is facing charges, including possession of opium for trafficking.
