‘Final’ suspect in Selkirk Avenue killing charged with murder

Winnipeg police have laid a murder charge after arresting a third suspect in connection with the death of a 40-year-old man at a Selkirk Avenue apartment building earlier this month.

Kingsley Murray Bruce, a member of Poplar River First Nation who was living in Winnipeg, was found injured on March 3. He was taken to hospital in critical condition, where he died of his injuries.

Winnipeg police officers were responding to a gun call at the apartment block.

Homicide investigators had already arrested two suspects: Emmanuel Max Spence on March 8, and Thomas Jeremey (TJ) Spence on March 11. Both were charged with manslaughter.

On March 17, police made what they say is the “final arrest” in connection with Bruce’s death. Sebastian Atkinson, 25, was charged with second-degree murder and detained in custody.

All three men are believed to have known each other prior to the shooting.

None of the allegations against any of the suspects have been tested in court.
