Three arrested after Winnipeg police seize gun, drugs and weapons in downtown trafficking investigation

Three people have been arrested after Winnipeg police seized a handgun, drugs, weapons and cash during a search of a downtown residence as part of a drug trafficking investigation.
The Winnipeg Police Service said officers executed a search warrant Saturday at a home in the 600 block of Elgin Avenue following a weeks-long investigation into suspected drug trafficking in the city’s central downtown area.
Police said officers arrested a 30-year-old man, a 26-year-old woman and a 69-year-old man inside the residence.
During the search, investigators seized a Beretta .40-calibre handgun with an obliterated serial number, ammunition, a machete, bear spray, approximately 12.6 grams of crack cocaine packaged for sale, 2.8 grams of powder cocaine and $565 in cash.
Dillon Riley Parker, 30, and Savannah Taylor Sanderson, 26, each face multiple firearms, weapons and drug trafficking charges, including possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking. Both remained in custody.
The 69-year-old man, who was not identified by police, faces similar firearms, weapons and drug trafficking-related charges. He was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
Police said the search was carried out by members of the Central Community Support Unit with assistance from the East District Community Support Unit, Central District General Patrol and the Tactical Support Team.
The investigation began in June after officers received information about suspected drug trafficking activity in Winnipeg’s downtown area.
