One person was hospitalized in unstable condition after a fire at a bungalow in the 300 block of Collegiate Street on Monday around at 12:19 p.m.
Occupants of the house evacuated before crews arrived on scene, said the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS).
Winnipeg firefighters also said one cat was found in the home; the City of Winnipeg’s Animal Services Agency responded to provide care for the pet.
The house sustained water, fire and smoke damage. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Overnight fires
Winnipeg fire crews were also kept busy battling a pair of blazes overnight.
The first fire was reported on Sunday at 11:45 p.m. in the 300 block of Harbison Avenue West, where a two-storey house suffered smoke, water and fire damage.
Occupants of the home self-evacuated and there were no injuries reported, said WFPS.
A neighbouring house also sustained smoke and water damage from the fire.
The second fire was reported on Monday at 6:04 a.m. at a commercial building in the 1700 block of Sargent Avenue.
Firefighters completed a search of the building and no occupants were found, and no injuries were reported, said WFPS.
Those fires are also under investigation.
