Winnipeg police arrest man accused of stealing $10K of meat from grocery stores

Winnipeg police say a 32-year-old man is in custody after a series of grocery store thefts that sometimes turned violent.
The Winnipeg Police Service says on Thursday it arrested a man wanted on three separate warrants in connection to more than a dozen thefts from various chain grocery stores within the city.
Investigators allege a suspect stole “large quantities of mainly meat products.”
“In many of the incidents, the suspect would physically assault security or store employees and threaten them with bear spray or sharp-edged weapons,” WPS said in a news release.
No injuries were reported in the alleged incidents.
Police say the total value of the items stolen was more than $10,000.
Keifer Mitchell Davis Kent, was charged with seven counts of robbery, 18 counts of theft under $5,000 and three counts of failure to comply with the conditions of an undertaking. He was detained in custody.
