An NHL jersey that taps into the very fabric of Manitoba will hit the ice this season.
The NHL unveiled the Hometown Remix jerseys as a set of alternate sweaters for all 32 teams on Monday.
Each jersey is meant to celebrate the local culture of the franchise and will be worn several times throughout the season. A total of 261 games will feature Hometown Remix jerseys, with 19 head-to-head matchups.
“Together with Fanatics and our clubs, we’ve created designs that are rooted in local identity and tell a story about the cities and fans they represent. We’re incredibly excited to bring the program to life and see that passion reflected both on the ice and in the stands,” NHL executive Brian Jennings said in a statement.
The Jets will wear their hometown remix jerseys eight times this season, beginning Nov. 17 when they host the Ottawa Senators at Canada Life Centre.
The jersey highlights the Northern Lights by capturing the colour and movement of the Aurora Borealis, including the blue‑to‑light‑green gradient typical of the natural phenomenon.
“We wanted this jersey to reflect something that is uniquely connected to Winnipeg and Manitoba, and the Northern Lights felt like a natural choice,” said Dorian Morphy, the team’s senior vice-president for brand and its chief marketing officer. “They’re something that makes our province so special, and we saw an opportunity to bring that to life in a unique way for our team and our fans.”
The jerseys will also be worn Nov. 17 (Senators), Nov. 21 (Golden Knights), Nov. 23 (Mammoth), Dec. 10 (Blackhawks), Jan. 19 (Wild), Jan. 21 (Rangers), March 23 (Kraken), and March 25 (Avalanche).
