Pins found in Halloween chocolate in Winnipeg: police

Winnipeg police say they received two separate reports of Halloween chocolates containing pins embedded inside.

The Winnipeg Police Service says it received one report from the Garden City neighbourhood — 900 block of Sinclair Street — involving a mini Twix bar.

A second complainant on High Ridge Road, in the Royalwood neighbourhood, says they found a pin in a Kit Kat bar.

“Parents and guardians are still encouraged to carefully check their children’s candy,” Winnipeg police said in a news release.

Anyone who finds such objects in their Halloween candy are asked to call 204-986-6222.

There have been similar reports across Canada in the days since children went out trick-or-treating.

Police in Quebec are investigating reports of dangerous objects inserted into candy.

In Ontario, a blade was reportedly found in a trick-or-treater’s haul in Guelph, while sewing needles and pins were discovered in Toronto.

In the central Alberta community of Blackfalds, a needle was found in Halloween chocolate.
