Two men arrested after stabbing in downtown Winnipeg

Winnipeg police (WPS) arrested two men in connection with the stabbing of a 47-year-old man last month in downtown Winnipeg.
WPS received a 911 call around 10 p.m. on Aug. 8, reporting a stabbing in a park near the intersection of Young Street and Broadway Avenue.
Upon arrival, officers found the victim with life-threatening injuries. He was taken to hospital in critical condition by the paramedics and was later upgraded to stable condition.
Police say the victim was in the park when he was allegedly approached by two unknown suspects.
“An interaction between the victim and one of the suspects escalated into a physical altercation,” WPS said in a press release Wednesday. “During the altercation, the second suspect assaulted the victim with an edged weapon, causing serious injuries.”
Police arrested one of the suspects, a 31-year-old man, the same night when he returned to the scene while officers were still at the scene.
He was charged with aggravated assault and released on an undertaking. WPS didn’t disclose his name.
The second suspect, Jamie Nathanial Neilson, 46, was arrested by investigators Tuesday. He was charged with aggravated assault and remains in custody.
