Six people charged in connection to Winnipeg drug bust

Winnipeg police say six people have been charged in connection to a recent drug and gun bust.

WPS says members of the Guns & Gang Unit began an investigation into a home that was believed to be involved in handling drugs.

On Saturday, officers conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle believed to be connected to the home.

At the time, four people were in the vehicle — a Ford Escape — and police then conducted a search.

During the search, officers found and seized the following items:

  • Loaded sawed-off .22 calibre rifle;
  • Numerous 12-gauge shotgun shells;
  • .22 calibre ammunition;
  • Several cellular phones;
  • $3,315;
  • 770 grams of methamphetamine (estimated street value – $40,000);
  • 489 grams of fentanyl (estimated street value – $75,000);
  • 15 Percocet pills (estimated street value – $300);
  • Digital scales and packaging material;
  • 12-gauge sawed-off shotgun;
  • 9mm handgun and magazine;
  • 275 grams of methamphetamine (estimated street value – $14,000);
  • 9 grams of cocaine (estimated street value – $900);
  • 1 gram of fentanyl (estimated street value – $150).

 

Following the search, all the occupants of the Escape — all between 30 and 36 years old — were taken into custody and have since been charged with drug and weapon-related offenses.

WPS also noted the home initially in question was also searched. During the search, officers found and seized the following:

  • .22 calibre rifle;
  • Digital scale;
  • Shotgun shells;
  • .22 caliber ammunition;
  • A piece of a sawed-off barrel.

 

WPS notes a 21-year-old and a 45-year-old have also been charged in connection to the guns and drugs.
