Man arrested after random stabbing at a Winnipeg bus stop

Winnipeg police (WPS) arrested a 35-year-old man after he allegedly stabbed a random passenger waiting for the bus at a stop on Saturday.

Police say they responded to a 911 call reporting the incident just after 6:30 p.m. in the 1-99 block of Israel Asper Way.

The victim in his 20s was waiting at a bus stop when he was stabbed by an unknown man who appeared unexpectedly. The victim received emergency medical care before being transported to the hospital in stable condition.

The suspect fled but was located and arrested a short time later in the 1-99 block of Forks Market Road. He faces multiple charges including aggravated assault and remains in custody.

WPS’ major crimes unit has taken over the investigation.
