26 new charges against former Manitoba MP Inky Mark

More firearms charges have been laid against a former long-serving federal politician in Manitoba who was already accused of multiple firearms offences.
Authorities say Inky Mark was re-arrested Aug. 12 and charged with 26 new offences, bringing the total number of charges against him to 38.
Mark, who represented Dauphin from 1997 to 2010, was first arrested and charged July 13 after police say a stockpile of weapons, including an antique cannon, were seized from his Dauphin home.
The 78-year-old was charged with firearms trafficking, possession of a firearm with a tampered serial number, possession of property obtained by crime, and unsafe storage of firearms.
Mounties say after going through and cataloguing the evidence, they recovered 445 firearms from the home — six more than originally reported.
Of those firearms, police allege 295 were unsafely stored, 10 were prohibited, and 11 were restricted or prohibited and not registered to Mark. Authorities also allege they recovered 26.5 kilograms of explosives, four times higher than what licensed people are allowed to possess.
“A number of restricted or prohibited firearms were stored with readily available ammunition. Two firearms registered to the suspect were not located,” RCMP said in a news release.
Mounties say they also learned that Mark, sometime December 2024 and February 2025, allegedly “responded to a social media post from a friend complaining about a coyote on their property by going to the person’s home unprompted and handing them a firearm with ammunition.” Police say the friend did not use the weapon.
The new charges against him include weapons trafficking; possessions of prohibited weapons; failing to report a lost firearm; and having more than six kilograms of explosives.
None of the allegations against Mark have been tested in court.
