Man in wheelchair stabbed in broad daylight in Winnipeg’s North End

A man in wheelchair was hospitalized after being stabbed in Winnipeg’s North End neighbourhood Friday.

Winnipeg police responded to a report of a stabbing on Selkirk Avenue at 2 p.m.

According to police, the victim in his 20s was sitting in a wheelchair in a courtyard in the 400 block of Selkirk Avenue when he was stabbed by an unknown man who appeared unexpectedly.

The 38-year-old suspect was arrested shortly after. He was charged with assault with a weapon and remains in custody

Police provided emergency medical care to the victim.

He was transported to hospital in unstable condition, which was later upgraded to stable.
